Young Authors, Young Artists Conference


Students in grades 3-5 are invited to attend the annual “Young Authors, Young Artists Conference.” This day-long event is being held on TBD in Rochester, Minnesota. The conference promotes student enthusiasm and competence in written and visual communication. Students from southeastern Minnesota will learn from and work with authors, poets, illustrators, artists, journalists, book crafters, and others in sessions that expose students to the art and joy of writing and creating.

Location: Heinz Center (an extension of Rochester Community and Technical College)

Students should choose three sessions to attend (see the attached list of session offerings).
Due to space limitations, it cannot be guaranteed that students will be assigned to all sessions
requested. Session assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis so register early!
Space is limited to 40 students from Kasson-Mantorville Public Schools.

Lunch: Students should bring their own sack lunch and beverage to the conference. No
refrigeration is available. There is a cafeteria at the Heinz Center for lunchtime.

Transportation: Busing is being provided to Kasson-Mantorville students at no charge, thanks
to the Gifted and Talented Office. Students will be bussed from Kasson-Mantorville Elementary
and the Middle School at 8:00 am. At the conclusion of the conference at approximately 1:30
pm, students will be bused back to their respective schools before the end of the school day.

Chaperones: Teachers/staff members will accompany the Kasson-Mantorville students to the
conference.

Registration: Complete the attached registration form and submit it along with your check for
TBD made payable to “Southeast Service Co-Op”- to your child’s classroom teacher by TBD. No late registrations will be accepted.
